Location

Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Miraflores de la Sierra is part of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park and the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Regional Park, which has been designated a biosphere reserve by the UNESCO.

Miraflores de la Sierra is located only 49 km from Madrid, at an altitude of 1.150m and with a population of 5.890 (INE 2014 statistics).  It is located at the intersection betweentwo mountains passes, La Morcuera and Canencia, and is surrounded by the most extensive melojo oak forest in the Madrid Community.  This small valley, situated near the slopes of La Najarra mountain, has been an important tourist destination since the end of the 19th century thanks to its mild climate and spectacular countryside.  Renowned for its fountains, aristocratic summer houses, and the once splendidelm treewhich the famous poetVicente Aleixandre, a neighbour of the village, dedicated his poetry to, Miraflores de la Sierra offers the tourist an unbeatable experience.
